Focus on Mark Schubert
He comes to the School of Population Health from UQ’s Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
Foremost a field anthropologist, Mark did field work for his PhD among the many undocumented migrants from the Pacific Islands in Griffith, New South Wales.
Mark was born in Brisbane but spent much of his early life in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and other parts of the Pacific Islands, from which he went to boarding school in Melbourne (“decades ago it seems”), only to return to Brisbane in mid-2007.
He returns to Papua New Guinea as often as he can.
